Bulldogs Look To Extend Winning Streak at Winthrop

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will look to extend its winning streak as the Bulldogs travel to Winthrop on Wednesday as the Bulldogs hope to make it three straight victories.

The Bulldogs have won back-to-back matches as they have downed Presbyterian and High Point in the last two games. Asheville sports a 6-6-1 overall record and a 2-2 Big South
Conference mark as it travels to Rock Hill, S.C.
Caroline Houser netted a goal in each match during the Bulldogs' winning streak. So far this year when Houser records a point in a match, the Bulldogs are 5-1. The forward scored the lone goal in the previous match as she and the Bulldogs handed High Point its first Big South loss of the season.
The shutout versus the Panthers was Asheville's first Big South clean sheet in 2017. On the year, UNC Asheville has three shutouts.
Also in the 1-0 victory on Saturday, it was the Bulldogs' fifth one-goal victory this year.
In its two-game winning streak, Asheville has scored five goals from four different players – Houser, Katie Tuorto, Skyler Chillson and Erika Snyder.
Scouting Winthrop
The Eagles enter the mid-week matchup with a 4-7-1 overall record and a 1-4 mark in the league. Their lone Big South win came on the road as Winthrop snuck past Gardner-Webb 2-1 two games ago. In their most recent match, the Eagles fell 2-1 to Presbyterian in Rock Hill.
In home matches this year, Winthrop is 1-4-1 with its lone win coming against USC Upstate in early September.
Allie Thomas leads the Eagle attack as the sophomore forward has scored five goals. She has a team-leading 11 points as she also has one assist.
