Asheville Travels to Radford for Sunday Match-up

RADFORD– The UNC Asheville women's tennis team travels to Radford University to take on the Highlanders in their sixth conference match of the year.

NOTABLES

Head-to-Head: The Bulldogs and the Highlanders last met in 2015, where Asheville collected a 4-3 victory over Radford on their home court in the first league match of the season. The Bulldogs four points came from an early doubles point along with singles wins from returners: Amalie Davidsen and Hunter Hall, and former Bulldog, Emily McNall.

Last Time Out: Asheville returns to the court after a little over a week without a match. The last competition for Asheville was a home match against Campbell University. The Bulldogs dropped the conference match to the Camels (5-2) despite winning the doubles point and collecting a singles win from Hannah Francisco in flight two (7-5, 6-1).

Finest Freshmen: Freshmen, Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco lead the Bulldogs in singles play in the 2016 season. Shipley (7-4) has collected four wins in flight six and three wins in flight five for Asheville. While Francisco, (6-4) has picked up four wins in the top flight and two wins in flight two. Both freshmen have received Big South Conference Freshmen of the Week honors this season.

Bulldogs in Big South: Asheville (1-4) currently sits in seventh place in the Big South Conference standings, and are separated from sixth place Gardner-Webb (3-4) by two wins. The Radford Highlanders (1-7) currently rank ninth in the BSC in 2016.
