NOTABLES

-The Bulldogs won a close battle in doubles to start the match 1-0 over the Eagles. The Big South Conference Doubles First Team All-Conference pair of Brett Landau and Alex Croker delivered a 6-3 win in flight one to get things started for Asheville. Winthrop responded with a 6-4 victory in flight two, handing Henry Patten and Josh Swindler their first doubles conference loss this season. The duo of Thomas Orestis-Panoulas and Reid Dillon delivered a comeback win in flight three to win 8-6 and clinch the doubles point for the Bulldogs.

- Singles Second-Team All-Conference selection Josh Swindler came through with the first win in singles play for Asheville, collecting a 6-4, 6-1 win over Winthrop's Michael Chen in flight four. Swindler's victory put the Bulldogs up 2-0 on the Eagles.

-Brett Landau posted the second win for Asheville in flight five. The senior cruised to 6-2, 6-2 victory to give Asheville a 3-0 advantage.

-The Eagles responded with a (6-3, 6-4) victory in flight one to halt the Bulldogs' progress.

-Singles First Team All-Conference selection Henry Patten sealed the match for Asheville with a 6-4, 7-6 victory in flight two. The freshman from the United Kingdom added to his now eight-match win streak to lift the Bulldogs to a 4-1 victory.

SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN

-The Bulldogs and the Bluehose both finished the regular season with a Big South Conference record of 6-2. The Bulldogs look for redemption in tomorrow's Semifinal match beginning at 2:00 p.m.

QUOTABLES FROM HEAD COACH TOM HAND

On the Win- “Very proud of these guys today. We knew going in that Winthrop is a good team and that we would need everything we had to beat them. It's exciting to be in this position, but we know our toughest challenges are still ahead of us.”
