THE TURNING POINT

Leading 1-0 through two innings, Tennessee used five hits to post a four-run frame in the third inning, beginning a stretch of scoring at least one run over each of the next five innings.

NOTABLES

-Asheville finished with six hits in the game, with Scott Kobos notching two hits as five different players had one hit each. Kyle Carruthers notched a double to lead off the top of the fifth inning and Kobos added a double in the ninth frame.

-Bulldog starter Danny Wilson was saddled with the loss, allowing five runs on six hits over three innings of work in his first start of the season. Five Asheville relievers each tossed one inning to bridge the rest of the night together.

-Asheville drew four walks in the loss, including Pete Guy tallying his 32nd base on balls this season to keep pace with the national lead.

-The Bulldogs left at least one runner on base in six different innings, reaching on walks in the first and fourth innings (both by Wilson) before Carruthers' double to lead off the fifth. Kobos reached with a single in the seventh before being stranded, while Asheville had two men on in the eighth (Carmine Pagano single, Guy hit by pitch) and in the ninth (Kobos double, Alex Baratta walk) before they were stranded.

-Tennessee took the lead in the first inning on a Bulldog throwing error on a stolen base attempt before the hosts added to the lead with the four-run third inning, highlighted by an RBI double and a pair of run-scoring singles.

-The hosts saw an RBI single extend the lead in both the fourth and sixth innings, while Tennessee connected for a solo homer in the fifth and a two-run homer the sixth. The final run of the night scored via a wild pitch in the seventh inning.
