ASHEVILLE– The UNC Asheville Women's Tennis team delivered a win over North Carolina Central University in their first outdoor home match of the year.

 

NOTABLES

-The Bulldogs collected two early wins in doubles play to decide the doubles point. Ericka Rivero and Christin Louw won on court two (6-2) and Hunter Hall and Lauren Brooker won the second match on court three (6-0) to give Asheville a 1-0 lead.

 

-Asheville powered through singles play, taking all four matches in two sets. Seniors, Rivero and Brooker delivered wins on courts two and three, Rivero 6-4, 6-1, and Brooker 6-1, 6-2.

 

-Kylee Shipley and Christin Louw also came up with wins for Asheville, Shipley on court four (6-3,6-1), and Louw on court six (6-0, 6-1).

 

-Because the match was decided after the completion of Shipley's match on court five, Hannah Francisco on court one, and Hunter Hall on court four did not finish their singles matches.

On the Match: “There was a little bit of an adjustment to playing outdoors for the first time this year, but the team got it together pretty quickly and played some good tennis.”
