ASHEVILLE – The UNC Asheville Men's Tennis team defeated the King Tornado for their third straight home victory this season. With today's win, the Bulldogs move to an overall record of 4-2.

 

NOTABLES

- Asheville swept King in doubles play, taking all three matches to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead heading into singles. Henry Patten and Josh Swindler took the first doubles win on court two (6-0), followed by a victory from Thomas Panoulas and Reid Dillon on court three (6-2). With the doubles point secure, the pair of Alex Croker and Brett Landau delivered a win after a close battle on court one (7-6, 5).

 

- To start singles play, the Bulldogs captured two quick wins from Henry Patten on court three (6-2, 6-0) and Josh Swindler on court four (6-0, 6-2). With a 3-0 lead over the Tornado, Thomas Panoulas turned in a win on court one (6-4,7-5) to secure the match for Asheville.

 

- The Tornado responded by grabbing a singles win on court five, in three sets (2-6, 7-6, 10-5).

 

-The Bulldogs picked up two more singles wins on the day from Alex Croker on court two (6-3, 7-6,4) and Olly Cull on court six (6-1,6-2) to close out the match.

"Good win for us today. King has some very strong guys in their lineup, especially at the top. I think we're starting to do a lot of things right. Hopefully that bodes well as we look forward to the upcoming conference schedule."

 

UP NEXT

Following today's win, Asheville will return to the court on Friday, March 4 at 2:00 p.m. when they travel to Radford, Virginia to face the Highlanders in their first conference match of the year.
