Bulldogs Fall Short Against Furman On the Road

GREENVILLE – The UNC Asheville Men's Tennis team dropped a close road contest to the Furman Paladins in Greenville, South Carolina to move them to 3-2 in preseason play.
NOTABLES
-The Bulldogs collected the doubles point from the Paladins to start the match. Furman won the first match on court two (6-2), but Asheville battled back to collect wins from Alex Croker and Brett Landau on court one (6-4) and Thomas Orestis-Panoulas and Reid Dillon (7-5) on court three. The Bulldogs 2-1 victory in doubles gave them a 1-0 lead going into singles play.
-The Paladins responded by taking the first three victories in singles play in two sets. They took points from courts one (7-5, 6-0), two (6-3, 6-3) and four (6-4, 7-6).
- Asheville battled back in the final three singles competitions, taking Furman to three sets in all of the remaining matches. Henry Patten fell to Cameron Green on court three (6-7, 6-2, 2-6) to decide the match for the Paladins.
-Furman swept the Bulldogs in singles play to take the match 6-1.

On the match- “We knew going in that this was a very strong team. They were better than us today. We had some chances, but couldn't capitalize on them. We'll be back to work tomorrow.”

Following today's match, The Bulldogs will take a short break before returning to action at home on February 20, where they will host Lees-McRae at the Asheville Racquet Club at 3:00 p.m.
