Bulldogs Travel to Face Elon Tuesday Night

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball team will hit the road to face off with the Elon Phoenix this Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Alumni Gym.
BULLDOG BITES
SERIES HISTORY: Asheville leads the head to head series 9-6. The Bulldogs' dropped last year's matchup, 86-81 at Kimmel Arena, the first meeting in 13 years. Elon was a member of the Big South Conference from 1999-2003.
LAST TIME OUT: A pair of clutch three pointers helped the Bulldogs escape a near 22 point blown lead when they defeated Coastal Carolina, 79-77, in overtime this past Saturday. After looking like Asheville had ran away with the game Coastal battled back going on a 23-1 run towards the end of the game. The Chanticleers then took a three point lead with 22 seconds remaining. Junior forward Alec Wnuk responded with a buzzer beating three pointer to send the game to overtime where the Bulldogs would eventually prevail.
DOUBLE DIGITS: Junior guard, Ahmad Thomas, has tallied double digits in scoring in all eight games this season, scoring a season high 22 points against Coastal. Thomas leads the squad with an average of 16.9 points per game.
FRESHMAN SHINING: Freshman MaCio Teague has started the season off strong. The young guard has scored double digits in five of the eight games this season. Teague recorded his first collegiate double-double in the win over Coastal, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Teague also provided 7 assists and 5 steals in the game.
SCOUTING ELON: Elon is off to a very strong 6-2 start this year. The Phoenix are coming off a tough 77-74 loss at Georgetown on Sunday. Elon has five players averaging ten points or more. Their top scorer, Brian Dawkins, averages 13.5 points per game.
UP NEXT: Following play in Elon, the Bulldogs will return home for the back half of a double header at Kimmel Arena this Saturday, December 10. The men's team will face Warren Wilson with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
