Cameron Maybin to Host Inaugural Maybin Mission Youth Camp at UNC Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Major League Baseball star and Asheville native Cameron Maybin will play host to his inaugural community baseball program at UNC Asheville on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, from 9:45 a.m.-12 p.m.
"Asheville will always be a special place for me – it's where I grew up, it's where I got my start and it's where my wife and I have chosen to raise our family," said Maybin. "Having been drafted shortly after graduating from T.C. Roberson High School, I never had a chance to play baseball at the collegiate level, so I'm excited to join UNC Asheville in January and play the great game of baseball on a college campus alongside 150 kids that hold the same dream I did so many years ago."
The Maybin Mission Youth Camp will host over 150 kids from Asheville as part of a complimentary program focused on baseball development, techniques and skills. The program will take place at Greenwood Field (outdoor or indoor, pending weather) and is co-sponsored by UNC Asheville Baseball.
"We are excited to be a part of the Maybin Mission," UNC Asheville baseball head coach Scott Friedholm said. "Any chance we get to give back to the community, in any way, our University and baseball program is on board. I know Cameron and Courtney will always be invested in the youth of Asheville, so hopefully this will be long partnership between UNC Asheville and the Maybin Mission."
The complimentary youth baseball clinic hosted by the Los Angeles Angels outfielder will feature a baseball clinic, including five interactive stations for participants ages 8-13 (ONLY) including: base running, hitting, throwing/pitching, infield and outfield.
