ASHEVILLE – The UNC Asheville Women's Tennis team welcomes Lenoir-Rhyne University to the Asheville Racquet Club this Saturday, January 30 at 3:00 p.m. for their second non-conference match of the season.
NOTABLES
Starting Strong: Asheville started off the season with a dominating (6-1) win over Mars Hill University on January 16. The Bulldogs picked up five singles wins and the doubles point, sweeping the Lions in doubles, 3-0. The Bulldogs look to carry their momentum into Saturday's match.
Fresh Moves: In their first match of the season against MHU, Asheville collected three singles wins from their freshmen. Hannah Francisco playing the number one spot (6-2, 6-2), Christin Louw in the fifth spot (6-0, 6-0) and Madeline Finley (6-3, 6-2) in the number six spot. Francisco was also nominated for Big South Conference Freshman of the week for the week of January 17.
First Impressions: Saturday's match will be the first time the Bulldogs have faced the Bears since head coach Lise Gregory headed the program in 2007. However, Asheville has faced several other members of the South Atlantic Conference including their first win of the season, Mars Hill University. The match-up will be LRU's first of the 2016 season.

-Following Saturday's match, Asheville will travel to Boone, N.C. on February 6 to face the Appalachian State University Mountaineers for their third match of the season.
