ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Freshman Jordan Fulbright gave the UNC Asheville baseball team another impressive start on Tuesday afternoon, as the left-hander improved to 4-0 on the season in the Bulldogs' 7-5 victory over Tennessee Tech.

The Bulldogs (11-13) jumped out to a seven-run lead before weathering a five-run Tennessee Tech sixth inning, but the Asheville bullpen shut the door over the final three frames for the non-conference win.

Kyle Towles collected three of Asheville's seven total hits against the Golden Eagles' (10-12) pitching staff that also allowed a total of seven walks and a hit batter. Towles added an RBI, while Hunter Bryant drove in two RBI.

Fulbright allowed just five hits and one walk over his five innings of work, striking out four batters. After Tennessee Tech cut the lead to two runs, the duo of Ryan Tapp and Nick Schavone shut the door over the final three innings, with Schavone earning his fifth save of the year.

Asheville jumped on the board with three runs in the first inning, highlighted by Bryant's two-run single down the left field line. The Bulldogs added a single run in third on Tommy Houmard's RBI single before posting another three-run inning in the fourth frame highlighted by Towles' RBI single.

Tennessee Tech posted five runs in the sixth inning on just two hits, aided by seven Bulldog pitching miscues and a two-run triple by Anthony El Chibani. The Bulldog bullpen left two Golden Eagle baserunners stranded to end the inning and end the threat.

Asheville continues its midweek schedule on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Wofford. Tomorrow night's game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
