Men's Tennis Stays Unbeaten with Historic Win at ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team stayed unbeaten on the young season with a huge road win as the Bulldogs downed East Carolina for the first time in school history, 4-2.
Asheville (3-0) lost the doubles point but won four of five singles matches played to earn the historic victory.
The Bulldogs got singles wins from Thomas Panoulas at #1 flight and Daniel Kripak at the #2 flight. Brett Landau and Alex Croker won at #4 and #5 flights respectively to seal the victory.
Panoulas won in three sets over Nicolas Sorano at the top flight. Sorano won the first set, 6-4 before Panoulas roared back to win the next two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Kripak dominated the first set in his match vs. Damien Brenard winning, 6-0. The second set went to a tie-breaker and Kripak won the match with an 8-6 victory.
Landau won in straight sets at #4 flight with a tie-breaker win in the second set. He faced Frederick Lehfeldt as he won the first set, 6-4. The second set went to a tie-breaker but Landau won, 7-5.
Croker sealed the win at #5 flight by downing Collin Roller in straight sets. He won a hard-fought match over Roller, 6-4, 6-4.
Asheville will put its unbeaten mark to the test next weekend with two matches at home. The Bulldogs host UNC Greensboro next Saturday at 3 p.m.before facing Appalachian State on Sunday (Feb. 1) at 3 p.m.
