Volleyball Falls to North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida used 13 service aces to defeat UNC Asheville 3-0 in the final match of the Radisson Invitational Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (2-12) fell 26-24, 25-19, 25-12 to the Ospreys (5-9). The key match was the first set. Asheville dominated much of the opening set and built an 18-12 lead and then had two set points at 24-22 before North Florida rallied to win the set.
Shelby Erickson led Asheville with eight kills. Diana Enriquez added six kills. Christine Lakatos contributed six kills and nine digs. Freshman Cameron Pryor finished with four kills. She earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Kristen Clay chipped in 10 digs.
The Ospreys controlled most of the second set. UNF built a 16-9 lead only to see the Bulldogs rally behind the hitting of Erickson to score five straight points to carve the lead to 16-14.
But Asheville could get no closer as the home team won 25-19. North Florida won the third set, 25-12.
The Bulldogs will try and get untracked Tuesday night when Asheville hosts Wofford at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday's match will be broadcast by the Big South Network and can be seen for free at uncabulldogs.com.
