Women's Tennis at USC Upstate This Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team will play its second fall tournament starting on Friday when the Bulldogs compete in the USC Upstate Fall Invitational.
Lise Gregory's club opened up fall action last weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational. The Bulldogs has several strong performances throughout the weekend at Elon.
The Bulldogs had two players bounce back from losses in the first round of their draws to battle back to get to the finals of the consolation bracket of their flight. One doubles team also accomplished that feat.
Caroline Sherrer won the B-2 singles flight consolation round. She lost in the first round to Taylor Fay or Radford but rallied to beat Tamara Jeremic of North Carolina Central, 6-4, 6-1. Sherrer then downed Montse Mesalles of Western Carolina, 7-5, 3-6, 10-4.
Christine Boissevain won two matches after falling in the first round of the A-3 flight. The senior lost to Taylor Case of Elon in the first round but roared back in the consolation rounds. She knocked off Amy Ellis of UNC Greensboro n Friday, 6-3, 6-3. On Saturday, she edged Kristina Centenari of Wake Forest, 7-6, 6-1. Shannon Bettiol of Western Carolina won the consolation crown with a 6-1, 7-5 win on Sunday.
The doubles team of Emily McNall and Lauren Brooker lost in their opening match to a team from ETSU but stormed back to defeat Phillips and Hejova of Western Kentukcy, 8-0 on Saturday. In Sunday's finals, the duo edged out McLinden and Bettitol of Western Carolina, 8-7 (2).
