North Carolina State Hands Volleyball 3-0 Loss

ATHENS, Ga. – North Carolina State took advantage of a balanced attack to knock off UNC Asheville in straight sets on Saturday morning at the Ramsey Center on the campus of the University of Georgia.
Asheville drops to 2-7 on the year, while N.C. State improves to 7-1. The match was the second of three at the Benson Hospitality Invitational.
Junior Catherine Fischer led the way for the Bulldogs for the second consecutive match with seven kills, while sophomore Madison Vaughn (five blocks) and freshman Kristen Clay (10 digs) led the way defensively for Asheville.
The Wolfpack trio of Julia Brown, Rachel Buckley and Kaitlyn Kearney led a balanced attack with nine kills each. Tanna Aljoe orchestrated the N.C. State attack, handing out 39 assists and Alston Kearns tallied 16 assists defensively.
The Wolfpack jumped out to an early lead after earning a 25-18 decision in the first set and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission following a 25-11 second set victory. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 9-6 lead in the third set following a kill by Diana Enriquez to cap a run of four straight points. The Wolfpack then went on a 5-1 run to seize control, before winning the set 25-17.
Asheville will take on Harvard at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, in the final game of the Benson Hospitality Invitational at the University of Georgia.
