CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team won the doubles point and took four singles matches as the Bulldogs downed mountain rival Western Carolina, 5-2 at the Catamount Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon.
The win improved Asheville's record to 4-1 on the season, while the Lady Cats fell to 0-4-1.
The Bulldogs top two doubles teams won their matches handily to put the Blue & White in front, 1-0.
In singles action, Asheville got one point on a forfeit at #6 singles. And then got clutch three-set wins from Amryn Soldier and Christine Boissevain to hold off WCU. Gillian Lewis won in straight sets for Asheville at #5 flight.
The Bulldogs are in action again on Tuesday afternoon when they host Augusta State at the Asheville Racquet Club starting at Noon
