Sherrer & Davidsen Captured Doubles Title at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Caroline Sherrer and Amalie Davidsen captured the Gray Doubles flight at the Wofford Invitational this weekend at the Terrier Tennis Center.

 

The Bulldog women's tennis team posted some strong doubles results throughout the three-day tourney that was shortened due to rain and snow on Saturday.

 

Sherrer and Davidson picked up three wins this weekend to give the duo the flight crown. They knocked off a team from USC Upstate, 8-6 on Friday and then edged a team from Wofford, 8-6 before winning the title with an 8-4 victory over McLinden-Mesalles of Western Carolina.

 

In the White Doubles' flight, the team Hunter Hall and Amaryn Soldier lost in the first round but won their next two matches to win the consolation round. They defeated teams from Virginia Tech and Wofford with an 8-1 win in the consolation final.

 

Also winning a consolation crowd was the duo of Lauren Brooker and Christine Boissevain in Black Doubles. They lost in the first round but won matches against Norfolk State and Georgia Southern to win. They won their final match by a score of 8-1.

 

In Gold Doubles, the team of Emily McNall and Ericka Rivero won two matches over teams from Gardner-Webb and Wofford before losing a close match to a team from Georgia Southern, 8-5.

 

Singles action was not completed due to the weather. Davidsen moved to the finals of the White singles with wins over Western Carolina and Norfolk State.

 

Hall split a pair of matches to finish tie for third in the Gray Singles. Boissevain also split a pair of matches to tie for third in the Wofford Singles.
