Women's Tennis at Wofford this Weekend

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team will compete in its final fall tournament this weekend when the Bulldogs participate in the Terrier Intercollegiate Invitational on the campus of Wofford College. The three-day tourney began this afternoon and will finish up Sunday afternoon.
Asheville will be one of 11 teams to compete at the tournament. The 64 person field will include competitors from Arkansas State, Gardner-Webb, Georgia Southern, Lenoir Rhyne, Norfolk State, Presbyterian College, USC Upstate, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina and Wofford.
Lise Gregory's club has had a month off after its last competition. The Bulldogs last competed at the USC Invitational the weekend of Sept. 19-21 and had some solid results. Three Bulldogs reached the finals of their respective flights.
Ericka Rivero, Emily McNall and Amalie Davidsen all won matches to reach the finals of their flights before falling.
McNall, seeded 12th, won three matches in the Black Draw, including an impressive semifinal win where she rallied for the victory. She knocked off Mary Walker Mixon of Gardner-Webb in the first round on Friday, 6-1, 6-0.
The California native captured two wins on Saturday to get to the finals. She roared past Claire Mulyadi of Chattanooga, 6-1, 6-4 to reach the semifinals. Playing second-seeded Yasmin Doost of Gardner-Webb, McNall lost the first set, 6-2. But McNall roared back to win the match, 6-4, 6-2. Emily fell in the finals to Kelsey Croots of Chattanooga.
In the White Draw, Rivero won two matches to reach the finals. She defeated Sonya Magnusson of Gardner-Webb, 6-2, 6-2. In the semifinals, Ericka downed Alison Storie of Chattanooga, 7-6 (5), 6-3. Rivero fell in the finals to Ana Gerbasi of ETSU.
In the Black Back Draw, freshman Amalie Davidsen made it into the finals with one victory. The freshman knocked off Emily Erickson of Wofford, 6-1, 6-3. Davidsen lost to Isabel Van Stryk of USC Upstate.
Highlighting doubles action was Asheville having two doubles team winning matches in the White Draw. Emily McNall and Lauren Brooker went 1-1 with a win over Presbyterian College's, Antonia Conze and Carolina deLoach, 8-3. Ericka Rivero and Hunter Hall knocked off Claire Mulyadi and Alison Storie of Chattanooga, 8-1.
