Women's Tennis Wins at PC, 6-1

CLINTON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team finished up Big South Conference play in impessive fashion with a 6-1 road victory at Presbyterian College Wednesday afternoon at the Blue Hose Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs (11-9, 4-5 BSC) won the doubles point and captured five singles matches to clinch a winning season for the first time in three years.
Asheville earned the doubles point by getting wins at #1 and #2 doubles. Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero won at #1 doubles by downing Greer Ranson and Lindsay Krause, 8-5. Emily McNall and Christine Boissevain then sealed the doubles win with an 8-3 victory over Patricia Alves and Courtney Gardiner.
The visitors had to work hard for their singles victories. Rivero rallied at #3 singles to down Caroline deLoach, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. Emily McNall won at #2 singles with a tie-breaker in the second set against Alves. She won 6-2, 7-6 (10-8).
However, Asheville dominated the flights 4-6. Amryn Solider won at #4 singles as she roared past Courtney Gardiner, 6-0, 6-2. Boissevain posted a victory at #5 flight over Krause, 6-3, 7-5. Gillian Lewis downed Lucia Leahy at #6, 6-4, 6-0.
The Bulldogs finish up the regular season on Thursday at home against King College. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
