Women's Tennis Falls to CSU, 5-2

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team battled Big South-leading Charleston Southern hard on Sunday but the Lady Buccaneers won a close doubles point and then took four singles matches to slip past the Bulldogs, 5-2 at the Asheville Racquet Club.
Asheville (7-7, 1-3 BSC) got one win in doubles as the Bulldogs #1 flight team of Zoe Hamel and Ericka Rivero posted an 8-7 win (8-6 in tie-breaker) over Angelica Sidorenko and Alia Nour. But the Lady Bucs earned the point by getting wins at #2 and #3 doubles.
In singles play, Hamel won in three sets at #1 flight over Marketa Placha, 2-6, 6-2, 7-6. Rivero won at #3 singles over Angelica Sidorenko, 6-3, 6-4.
CSU claimed singles wins from Yvonne Hubler, Alexandra Walters, Alia Nour and Susita Das to seal the victory over the Bulldogs. The Lady Bucs stayed unbeaten in league play at 5-0 and improved their overall record to 9-4.
Asheville returns to action on Monday when the Bulldogs host Radford at ARC starting at 2 p.m.
