JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - In a game that featured a combined 13 different pitchers and a total of 13 hits between the two squads, the UNC Asheville baseball team dropped a midweek contest to ETSU on Tuesday evening at Thomas Stadium, falling by the final of 3-1 to the Bucs.

With the win the Bucs improve to 11-8 while the Bulldogs fall 11-10, as ETSU snaps Asheville's four-game winning streak.

The Bulldogs tallied five hits on the day, including two by sophomore infielder Eli Miller. Adam Spracklin (0-1) got the start for the Blue & White and was credited with the loss, tossing two and two-thirds innings. Spracklin allowed only one run on two hits in the game.

Jimmy Nesselt (1-2) earned the victory for the Bucs, allowing only one hit in three innings. Chris Riopedre was 2-for-4 at the plate with a run batted in, helping lead ETSU to the two-run victory.

The Bucs broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third, scoring on a Clinton Freeman ground out. ETSU extended its lead to 3-0, posting two more runs on an Asheville error and a Riopedre infield single.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the sixth, when Casey Ebersole scored on a double play ground out. Asheville managed only two more base runners the rest of the game, as the Bulldogs dropped their 10th game of the year.

Asheville will host mountain-rival Western Carolina tomorrow evening at McCormick Field. It's the Bulldogs first game of the year at the historic ballpark, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
