JOHNSON CITY, TENN. - Atlantic Sun regular-season champion East Tennessee State picked up the doubles point and won just enough singles matches to slip past a determined UNC Asheville women's tennis squad, 4-3.

The Bulldogs (6-12) got singles wins from Britney Cloer, Stephanie Schon and Nicole Schon, all in straight sets to put Asheville within striking distance. However, the Lady Buccaneers (13-6) were able to hold on for the victory.

The Bulldogs play next on Saturday when they play at defending Big South Conference champion Winthrop starting at Noon.
