ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team returns to Greenwood Field Wednesday afternoon when the Bulldogs host East Tennessee State at 2 p.m.
Asheville (4-3) is trying to snap a three-game losing streak after the Bulldogs were swept at Campbell this past weekend.
"We didn't play that badly at Campbell but just didn't do the little things you need to do to win," commented Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "It's a long season and we're still a young team and have much to learn."
Asheville faces a tough ETSU squad on Wednesday. The Buccaneers are 4-2 on the young season and are being led by senior Paul Holiman who is hitting .526 with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI.
ETSU is 24-19 all-time against the Bulldogs as the Bucs have won seven of the last eight games between the two teams including all three games in Asheville.
The Bulldogs are being led at the plate by sophomore Robert McIntosh with a .571 average. Ian Graham has a .389 average. Cody Buch and Danny Baatz are Asheville's RBI leaders with six each.
Asheville will play its next 14 games away from home starting with a three-game series this weekend at Charlotte. The Bulldogs won't be at home again until the weekend of March 25-27 when they host Coastal Carolina for a three-game Big South Conference series.
