ASHEVILLE, N.C. -  Krystal Garrison scored 25 points to lead Longwood to a 76-66 non-conference win over homestanding UNC Asheville Monday night at Justice Center.

The Bulldogs (8-10) were led by Kendall Shepard with 14 points. Grace Blaylock added 13 points, while Lindsey Montgomery finished with 10 points. Kelli Riles led Asheville in rebounding wit 12 boards.

The Lancers (4-13) also had Emilee Dunton with 13 points and six assists off the bench. Mina Jovanovic added 12 points. Brittany Jones came up with 10 points. Garrison was 8-of-11 from the field and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Longwood. Asheville lost its fifth straight home game.

Asheville had trailed 41-36 at halftime but came out of the gates strong in the second half and surged to a 56-53 lead with 8:29 left on two free throws from Brittney Bowser.

But Longwood went on an 11-0 run over the next two minutes, led by seven points from Garrison to race to a 64-56 lead.

The Bulldogs could get no closer than six points the rest of the game. The Lancers would go 10-of-12 from the charity stripe in the final two minutes to seal the road win.

Longwood controlled much of the first half as Dunton scored 11 of her points in the opening half to help stake the Lancers to a 41-36 halftime lead. Dunton went 3-of-3 from beyond the arc as Longwood went 6-of-10 for the half to keep the visitors in front.  Shepard kept Asheville close with 11 first-half points.

Breaira Barksdale came off the bench for the Bulldogs and finished with nine points and six assists.

Asheville trailed 47-38 early in the second half but went on a 12-0 run fueled by two long 3-pointers by Blaylock and four points from Montgomery to take a 50-47 lead with 14:37 left.

The teams would exchange 6-0 runs before Longwood went on its 11-0 to take the lead for good.

Asheville had 19 turnovers which led to 23 Lancer points. Longwood out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 44-37 and had 19 second-chance point to just 11 for the home team.

The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday afternoon at Big South foe Gardner-Webb starting at 3 p.m.
