JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- In a game that featured seven home runs between UNC Asheville and East Tennessee State the home-standing Buccaneers tallied five round-trippers en route to a 13-7 victory over the visiting Bulldogs in game one of a doubleheader at Cardinal Park on Wednesday afternoon.

ETSU's first baseman Paul Hoilman recorded three homers of his own with teammates Bo Reeder chipping in a two run blast and Derek Trent adding a solo shot. Hoilman tallied five runs batted in on the day while going 3-for-4 at the plate. The Buccaneers improve to 28-21 with the win while Asheville falls to 12-30 on the season.

Danny Baatz drove in two RBI for the Bulldogs with a 2-for-3 showing from the batters box and Derrick Hopkins blasted a pinch hit grand slam in the top of the eighth in his lone at bat. Beau Zenman posted three hits over four at bats with a run scored while trying to help Asheville's cause.

Bo Burton picked up the win for the Bucs to improve to 6-4 on the season. Burton gave up two runs off of five hits with a pair of strikeouts in six innings of work. Drew Spear (2-3) was credited with the loss for the Bulldogs while giving up nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits in four and two-thirds innings pitched.

Baatz drove in the game's first runs in the top of the first when he homered with Catlin Carter on first to put the Bulldogs up 2-0 with ETSU coming to bat. Hoilman cut Asheville's lead in half with a solo homer to left in the bottom of the first before Chas Byrne tied the game in the second after advancing home on a caught stealing.

The Bucs took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the third on Hoilman's second blast of the day, driving in two runs with one swing of the bat. Hoilman would bash another two-run bomb as part of a five-run fifth for ETSU that gave the Bucs a 9-2 advantage.

ETSU posted two more runs in the sixth before Asheville rallied for five runs in the seventh and eighth innings, highlighted by Hopkins grand slam that cut the lead to four at 11-7. The Bucs answered in the bottom of the eighth with a pair of runs to put the game out of reach of the surging Bulldogs.
