High Point Sweeps UNC Asheville, 9-1 & 17-10

Ian Graham led the Bulldogs at the plate in the second game with a 4-for-4 performance. Beau Zinman hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs.
In the first game, High Point scored five runs in the first inning and coasted from there to get the win. Panther starter Jamie Schultz limited Asheville to just two hits over seven innings. The Bulldogs scored their only run in the ninth inning as Zinman had a run-scoring single to break the shutout.
In the second game, Asheville scored six runs in the fourth inning to build a 6-1 lead only to see the home team score two runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 6-3. High Point tallied seven runs in the fifth to take the lead for good at 10-4 as the Panthers scored in every inning the rest of the game.
Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, the Bulldogs sent 11 men to the plate to score six times. Graham began the inning with a single and scored later on a wild pitch to tie the game at 1-1. Zinman followed with a home run over the left-field wall for a 3-1 lead. Danny Baatz, Mike Vaughn and Graham added RBI in the inning to give Asheville the 6-1 lead.
The Panthers took advantage of six Asheville errors to score the next 11 runs of the game over the next three innings to lead 12-6.
The Bulldogs tallied three times in the seventh to get back in the game and narrow the lead to 12-9. Zinman's run-scoring double scored the first run of the inning. Jordan Lurie added a run-scoring ground-out. Catlin Carter tallied a run-scoring single to score Zinman.
But High Point (22-21, 8-10 BSC) came right back with four runs to build the lead back up to 16-9.
Asheville (11-25, 5-13 BSC) scored once more in the eighth. Cody Buch's double put runners on second and third. Zinman drove in the final run of the game for the Bulldogs with a ground-out.
UNC Asheville plays again on Tuesday night when the Bulldogs play at Appalachian State starting at 6 p.m.
