With rain scheduled for Sunday and Saturday, teams will finish their series on Saturday with a double-header starting at 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs (11-23, 5-11 BSC) were led at the plate by Catlin Carter with three hits. Mike Vaughn added two hits.
Asheville had as many hits as High Point with 10 but hit into four double-plays. The Bulldogs left eight men on base.
The Panthers were led by Nate Roberts with a 3-for-4 performance and added two RBI. Matt Gantner added two hits and a home run.
It was a game of missed opportunities for Asheville as the Bulldogs placed runners on base in every inning but simply could not get a big hit. In the seventh inning, Asheville put runners on second and third with nobody out but a pop-out and double-play ended the threat.
Asheville got on the board in the ninth inning. Ian Graham singled to open the inning and Serber then walked two hitters to load the bases. Cody Buch's ground-out scored Graham to break the shutout and cut the lead to 7-1.
Gantner's RBI-single scored the first run of the game in the first inning. He added a homer in the fourth for a 2-0 lead.
The Panthers added a run in the fifth and then scored two unearned runs in the sixth and seventh innings to pad the lead to 7-0.
Asheville is scheduled to pitch Drew Spear and Justin Schumer in tomorrow's double-header.
