UNC Asheville Women's Tennis Earns ITA Academic Team Award

Women's Tennis Plays Final Home Match on Tuesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team plays its final home match on Tuesday when the Bulldogs host North Georgia at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center starting at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The Bulldogs are 12-7 on the season and have won 10 of their last 13 matches. Asheville has four seniors playing in their final home match today. They are Louise Bottomley, Leslie Smith, Tania Mateva and Sarah Brinkley. Bottomley, Smith and Mateva have been with teh Bulldogs for four years and have helped improved the Asheville program each season.

Bottomley has gone 9-3 this year in singles and has teamed up sophomore Devon Cavanaugh to go 12-5 in doubles action. Smith has played at #1 this season and posted a 10-8 singles record. She was named Big South Player of the Week two weeks ago. Smith and Stephanie Schon have a 14-4 mark in doubles.

Mateva has gone 2-1 this year in singles and won a doubles match. Brinkley, a transfer from Western Carlina, has a 7-4 singles record on the season.
