Georgia State Downs Bulldog Baseball 18-2

ATLANTA - Georgia State exploded for 23 hits and scored 18 runs as the Panthers downed UNC Asheville 18-2 at Panther Field Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman catcher Ian Graham led the Bulldogs (4-7) at the plate. He went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. He also scored one of Asheville's runs.
The defending Colonial Conference champions scored five runs in the second inning and three runs in the third to lead 8-0. They scored two more in the sixth to pad the margin to 10-2.
Asheville scored its only two runs in the seveth. Beau Zinman walked, followed by a single by Graham to put runners on first and second. A groundout moved the runners up to second and third. Cody Buch drove in the first Bulldog run on a groundout. C.A. Clayton reached on an error, scoring Graham to cut the lead to 10-2.
Georgia State scored seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and one more in the eighth to seal the victory.
Asheville plays at Charlotte Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs are off this weekend before returning home on Monday to play their home opener against Mars Hill at Greenwood Field, starting at 3 p.m.
