Women's Tennis Wins Again; Downs Gardner-Webb, 6-1

Asheville (9-5, 2-2 Big South) won for the seventh time in its last eight matches. The Runnin' Bulldogs fell to 7-5 on the season and 0-3 in league play.
The Bulldogs got singles wins from Leslie Smith (1), Devon Cavanaugh (3), Britney Cloer (4), Nicole Schon (5) and Louise Bottomley (6). Smith and Cloer won in three sets.
Gardner-Webb's lone singles' win came from Ioana Opera at #2 singles as she defeated Stephanie Schon, 6-2, 7-6.
Asheville captured the doubles points with two hard-fought victories. Stephanie Schon and Leslie Smith knocked off Kasey Ellis and Erica White, 8-5 at #1 doubles. Nicole Schon and Britney Cloer edged Tavanner Black and Ronia Hutterli, 8-6 at #3 doubles to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead prior to singles.
Asheville is on the road for its next two matches. The Bulldogs play at Liberty on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
