Opening Tennis Matches Rescheduled

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team picked up its first Big South Conference victory of the season with a 7-0 victory over visiting Presbyterian College Tuesday afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs (8-5, 1-2 Big South) lost only one set on the day and captured their fifth win in the last six matches. They continue their busy week with a match against Gardner-Webb at home on Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.

"We played and competed well today," commented Asheville coach Lise Gregory. "Everyone did their job in their matches and it was good to find a way to win a conference match. We need to build on this win."

Only Stephanie Schon at #2 flight had to go three sets on the day. She defeated Heather Heusel 6-3, 3-6, 10-6. The Blue Hose fell to 3-10 and 1-2 in the league on the year.
