RADFORD, VA. - Radford got four hits from Reggie Keen and pounded out 15 hits as the Highlanders downed UNC Asheville 10-2 in Big South Conference baseball action at Dedmon Park Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (4-11, 0-2 Big South) were led at the plate by Ian Graham. The freshman catcher went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Freshman second baseman Robert McIntosh scored both of Asheville's runs.
The Highlanders scored four runs in the second inning and two more in third to grab a 6-0 lead. The Bulldogs got on the board in the fourth.
McIntosh opened the inning by reaching on an error. One batter later, Graham doubled to left-center, scoring McIntosh to cut the lead to 6-1.
Radford seized momentum again as it picked up two runs in the fourth and fifth innings to push the lead to 10-1.
Asheville scored its final run in the sixth. McIntosh walked and went to second on a ground-out. He stole third. Justin Schumer drove in McIntosh with a ground-out.
Radford starting pitcher Eddie Butler pitched eight strong innings and allowed just five hits.
The teams will finish up their three-game series Sunday at 1 p.m.
