Women's Tennis Edged by Campbell, 5-2

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team won the doubles point, but Campbell won four singles matches in three sets as the Lady Camels edged the Bulldogs, 5-2 in women's tennis action at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center Friday afternoon.

The loss snapped Asheville's (7-5) five-game winning steak. Campbell improved to 10-3 on the season.

The Bulldogs won the doubles point as the #1 team of Leslie Smith and Stephanie Schon defeated the Camels duo of Cristina Garcia and Ana Surviladze, 8-6. Asheville clinched the doubles points thanks to a win as the #2 team of Devon Cavanaugh and Louise Bottomley slipped past Campbell's Lisa Sutton and Borislava Nikolova, 9-7.

In singles play, the Bulldogs were only able to win at #4 flight. Britney Cloer downed Borislava Nikolova, 6-1, 7-5. Leslie Smith. Stephanie Schon, Devon Cavanaugh and Sarah Brinkley all lost in three sets.

Asheville hosts Big South Conference foe Presbyterian on Sunday at 1 p.m. The match will have free food from Arby's for all spectators and door prizes will also be given away.
