Tennis Teams Home This Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis teams will be at home this weekend for two matches. Both matches will be played at the Bulldogs new home, the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center. Asheville hosts future Big South foe Campbell Friday at 1 p.m., followed by a league match with Presbyterian on Sunday, also at 1 p.m.

The women's tennis team will take a five-game winning streak into this weekend's action. The Bulldogs have been dominant in those matches as they've won the last three matches by 7-0 score. Asheville has a 7-4 overall record and 0-2 mark in league play.

The men's team is 3-7 overall and 0-1 in BSC play. The Bulldogs have been snake-bit with injuries and some close losses in matches. Asheville is starting to get healthy again and should be ready to make a run at a league title in the second half of the season.

"We're excited about playing some home matches outside in nice weather," commented Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. "We've had to postpone or move so many matches this year due to the weather we have had the past few months. However, both of our teams have stayed focused and are getting better with each match."

Sunday's match at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center will feature free food from Arby's for spectators and prizes to be given away during the matches.
