Women's Tennis Falls in Opener to Furman, 7-0

Women's Tennis Wins Fifth Straight; Downs Western Carolina, 7-0

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team won its fifth consecutive match with a 7-0 victory over mountain rival Western Carolina Wednesday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (7-4) were able to win the match on a cold and windy day in Cullowhee. This match has been postponed due to weather four different times until the teams were finally able to play on Wednesday.

Asheville got the doubles point easily as the teams of Louise Bottomley and Devon Cavanaugh and Britney Cloer and Nicole Schon did not lose a game in their matches.

The Bulldogs controlled the singles part as the five players who played did not lose a set. Bottomley won at #6 by default.

Asheville is back in action at home when the Bulldogs host Campbell at the Crowne Plaza Tennis Center on Friday at 1 p.m.
