College of Charleston Slips by UNC Asheville Baseball, 3-1

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Taylor Wohlwend pitched six strong innings but College of Charleston got some keys hits as the Cougars edged UNC Asheville, 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point.
The Bulldogs (2-4) had 10 hits in the game as Catlin Carter went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Wohlwend (0-1) pitched very against the powerful College of Charleston (6-1) line-up. He went six innings and allowed just two runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out five.
The Cougars picked up a run in the first inning to lead 1-0. Asheville knotted the game at 1-1 in the third. Jordan Lurie reached on a fielders' choice. He stole second and scored on Carter's RBI-double.
The home team took the lead for good in the bottom of the frame on an infield single.
College of Charleston added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Ian Graham and Beau Zinman added two each each for the Bulldogs. Asheville did not make an error in the game.
The Bulldogs are on the road at Wofford Tuesday night at 7 p.m. before having their home opener against ETSU at Greenwood Field on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
