Asheville tried to get back in the game over the next the next two minutes as it went on an 8-1 run to cut the lead to 66-61 on a Riles lay-up at the 2:34 mark.
But that would be the last field goal the Bulldogs would score in the game. Two free throws from Roundtree pushed the lead to 68-61 with two minutes remaining. Courtney Epps knocked down two free throws at the 1:20 mark to pad the lead to 70-61 and seal the Runnin' Bulldogs fourth conference road win in seven days.
In the first half, GUW hit three treys in the first nine minutes and got six points from Roundtree to lead 20-9. The visitors pushed the lead to 31-16 on a jumper from Monique Hudson at the 5:06 mark.
Asheville fought back in the final five minutes to cut the lead to 38-29 at halftime. Shepard and Grace Blayock hit three-pointers to help the Bulldogs get closer.
Roundtree had 11 points in the first half, while Vaitkute added eight points.
Asheville plays next at High Point Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. It will be the Bulldogs final road game of the season. Gardner-Webb begins a three-game homestand on Saturday when it hosts Presbyterian College at 4:30 p.m.
