Nicole Schon Advances to Finals at Elon

ELON, N.C. - Junior Nicole Schon advanced to the finals of the B-1 singles flight this weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational.

Schon posted three wins over the weekend before falling in three sets to Jiulia Andreazza of ETSU on Sunday. The scores were 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4.

Schon downed Hannah Hill of Longwood, 6-3, 6-2, Kalin Jarvis of Winston-Salem State, 6-0, 6-0 and then rallied for a three-set victory over Abby Richmond, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

In the A-3 singles flight, freshman Zoe Hamel split a pair of matches. She edged Tara Sheets of ETSU, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 in a first-round match. Hamel fell to Gisela Fernandez of ASU, 6-3, 6-3.

Chelsea Hall participated in the B-S singles flight. She lost her first match to Lucia Leahy of Presbyterian College, 6-1, 6-1. Hall downed Taylor Harris of Winston-Salem State in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 10-4. She then lost in three close sets to Nasim Moadad of Longwood in the consolation final, 6-3, 6-7 (8-7), 10-7.

The doubles team of Nicole Schon and Zoe Hamel advanced to the consolation finals of A-3 flight. They lost 8-3 to a team from Radford and then downed a doubles team of PC, 8-1. Schon and Hamel lost a close final to ASU, 8-6.

The doubles team of Jackie McGuirk and Chelsea Hall played in B-1 doubles flight and dropped a pair of matches.
