Women's Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Win Against Radford

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team posted an impressive 5-2 over Radford Sunday afternoon at the Asheville School.
The Bulldogs earned the doubles point by winning two of the three doubles matches. At No. 1, Leslie Smith and Stephanie Schon defeated Petra Dajevic and Ivana Tomaic, 8-3. Nicole Schon and Tania Mateva record an 8-2 victory over Radford's Mirna Matic and Christina Hammond in the No. 3 match.
The Highlanders claimed the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches. However, Asheville won the four remaining matches to secure the overall victory. At No. 3, Devon Cavanaugh defeated Tomaic, 6-4, 6-3. Nicole Schon beat Matic, 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 match. Louise Bottomley won, 6-2, 6-2 over Antonietta Iosue. In the No. 6 match, Mateva defeated Ally Spector, 6-2, 6-2.
Asheville improves to 9-6 and 2-3 in the Big South with the win. The loss snaps a seven-match winning streak for the Highlanders and drops their record to 11-5 (2-2 Big South).
The Bulldogs return to the courts Friday as they will face North Carolina Central at the Asheville School at 2 p.m.
