UNC Asheville/High Point Series Pushed Back to Start on Saturday.

Saturday's first game will begin at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Field. The game can be heard live on uncabulldogs.com. Sunday's second game is tentatively scheduled as a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. Monday will be available if the series cannot be concluded by Sunday night. All three games will be played on the UNC Asheville campus.
Catlin Carter is the Bulldogs (4-19, 2-6 Big South) leading hitter with a .382 average. Carter has 10 multi-hit games out of the 18 games he has played and has hit safely in 15 of 18 games. His hot start has raised his career batting average to .300. He has 78 career hits in 260 at bats.
Justin Schumer is currently riding a season-high eight game hitting streak heading into this weekend's action. He is 9-for-33 (.272) over the streak. He began the year with a seven-game hit streak and has had a five-game streak as well. Schumer has a hit in 20 of the 23 game the Bulldogs have played his season.
Taylor Wohlwend is second in the Big South in innings pitched. His 33.2 innings are just shy of VMI's Travis Smink who has thrown 34 innings. Three Bulldog pitchers are in the top six in strikeouts. Schumer is third with 32 strikeouts and leads the conference in strikeouts per nine innings with an average of 12.71. Michael Bogaert and Wohlwend each have 28 strikeouts and are tied for fifth
The Panthers are 5-13 on the season and 1-6 in the Big South after dropping all three games at Liberty last weekend. High Point is lead by Kyle Mahoney who is hitting .354. He has two home runs and 15 RBI. As a team, the Panthers have only hit four home runs in 18 games. Billy Alvino is hitting .348 and Billy Manion is hitting .329 with a home run and 15 RBI. The Panthers are eighth in the league in hitting .292 as a team. On the mound, HPU is fifth in the league with a 6.55 team ERA. Mike Caldwell is the only pitcher with two victories. He is 2-2 with a 5.32 ERA. RJ Chlebnikow and Brian Jones each have 14 strikeouts to lead the team.
Asheville owns a 17-16 lead in the series since 1999. Over the last three seasons when these two teams played has affected the outcome. High Point has dominated the regular season match ups sweeping the Bulldogs each of the last two years and three of the last four. However, Asheville is 3-0 against High Point in the post season and has eliminated the Panthers from the Big South tournament each of the past three seasons. The last time Asheville won a regular season series against High Point was 2004. Prior to 2005, the Bulldogs had a 13-4 mark against the Panthers.
