Track and Field Squads Compete at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville men's and women's Outdoor Track and Field teams competed at the Charlotte 49ers Invitational at the Belk Track Complex on Friday and Saturday.
Highlighting the women's results was freshman Emma Bussard. Bussard finished in third place in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 12:06. Teammate Rachel Ambrosia came in seventh place at 12:37.
Bussard also competed in the 5000 and had a time o f 18:35 in that race. She finished in 11th place against a tough field.
Katie Olert ran in the 1500 and had a time of 5:09. Michelle Busse ran in the 800 (2:27) and in the 1500 (5:23). Emily Becker competed in the 3000 (12:48). Erin Putnam raced in the 5000 (19:47), while Mackenzie Wheaton (20:06) also competed in the same race.
Morgan Weeks had a busy day and competed in the long jump (4.67 meters), shot put (8.85) and the javelin (29.48). She also ran in the 100 hurdles (17.46).
Freshman Emily Pineda was also busy over the weekend. She finished 11th in the discus (33.74) and 13th in the shot put (10.70). Pineda was in the hammer throw (33.60) and javelin (20.16),
Rebekah Pineda competed in the discus (28.28) and javelin (18.33). Corrie Trotter placed in the long jump (4.06).
On the men's side, Adam Matthews finished ninth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10:04.
Dane Corriher competed in the 400 meters (50.25). Freshman Sam Maynard came in 21st in the 800 (1:58). Adam Schnapp (2:07.19) and Duane Stepp (2:07.33) also ran in the 800.
Schnapp was in the 1500 (4:17) as was Robert Abrahamson (4:38).
Will Beasley finished 15th in the triple jump (12.52) and 23rd in the long jump (6.10). Daniel Corriher came in 15th in the shot put (13.04) and 18th in the hammer throw (38.81).
Keith Scruggs came in 13th in the hammer throw (42.31) and competed in the shot put (11.11).
Simon Haake took 14th in the javelin (49.93) and competed in the shot put (11.75).
