Augst Leads Bulldogs Past Charleston Southern 80-71

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Reid Augst scored 19 points, all in the second half and set a school record for three-point shooting as UNC Asheville downed Charleston Southern 80-71 in Big South Conference action Saturday evening.
In addition, Augst scored his 1,000th career point in the game and became the 24th player in UNC Asheville school history to reach that plateau. He now has 1,008 career points. The senior forward set a school record by going a perfect 5-of-5 from the three-point line.
The Bulldogs (11-13, 7-6 BSC) had four other players in double figures in the victory. Matt Dickey added 15 points and was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line. John Williams added 14 points, while J.P. Primm contributed 13 points. Sean Smith finished with 10 points.
The Buccaneers (7-15, 2-9 BSC) were led by Jamarco Warren with a game-high 20 points. Tovi Bailey finished with 13 points. Giedrius Knysas had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kelvin Martin added 10 points.

“We came out a little flat today but I thought we did a nice job coming back late in the first half and played much better in the second half,” stated UNC Asheville coach Eddie
Biedenbach. “We did a good job building on our lead in the second half but didn't do the job putting the game away.”
Biedenbach was happy for Augst.
“Reid has worked very hard in his career and steadily gotten better each season,” commented Biedenbach. “We needed him to have a good year this season and he's done the job for us. I'm really happy for him to reach 1,000 points and he does it on a night he sets a school record. No one deserves that more than Reid Augst.”
