Women's Tennis Wins Big South Opener Over Charleston Southern

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team won its
Big South opener 4-3 against Charleston Southern on Saturday evening at
the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs (5-1, 1-0 BSC) won two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point.
In singles play, the Bulldogs were victorious in three matches that lasted three sets. At No. 3, Devon Cavanaugh was victorious over Andrea Schutte 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Nicole Schon dropped her first set 1-6 to Marija Dzakovic, but came back to win the next two sets 6-4, 6-1. Louise Bottomley defeated Angie Torres 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 in the No. 5 match.
The win is UNC Asheville's fifth in a row. Charleston Southern drops to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the Big South.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs will hit the road for a doubleheader against Catawba and Winston-Salem State. UNC Asheville takes on Catawba at 10 a.m. in Salisbury, N.C. The match versus Winston-Salem State will take place at 3 p.m. on the WSSU campus.
