Men's Tennis Suffers 4-3 Defeat to Lees-McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae men's tennis team posted a
4-3 upset against UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon at the Lees-McRae
Indoor Tennis Complex.
The Bobcats (2-4) took a 1-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches.
The Bulldogs (1-5) took three points in the single portion of the competition. Asheville's Jonas Brobeck defeated Steve Karandal in the No. 3 spot, 7-6, 7-6. Nathan White was victorious at No. 5 as he defeated Travis VanHoy, 7-5, 6-4. In the No. 6 match, Alexander Greer scored a 6-4, 6-2 win over Marko Zivkovic.
Lees-McRae captured three close singles matches to secure the overall victory. Nandor Solymosi defeated Mauricio Correa 7-6, 6-3 in the No. 1 match. Asheville's Niccolai Nonnenbroich defeated Shawn Sumner 6-4 in the first set of the No. 2 match, but Sumner took the next two sets 6-4, 6-2. The No. 4 match also went three sets as Alek Mojski was victorious over Joe May 4-6, 7-1, 7-6.
UNC Asheville returns to action today as it hosts UNC Greensboro at the Asheville Racquet Club at 5:00 p.m.
