Overview: First men’s player from Brazil to ever play at UNC Asheville...enjoyed standout 2005 season before sitting out 2006 season...earned all-conference in doubles with Rob Nunnery as a freshman in 2005...only senior on this year's roster and will compete for all-conference honors.
2008: Was UNC Asheville's top player and played at #1 flight...registered a 5-9 singles record...played with three different doubles partner and picked up two wins.
2007: Played in four different flights in singles and went 9-8...played anywhere from #1 to #4 with 3-1 record at #3 flight...teamed up with Rob Nunnery to be at #1 doubles and produced 6-5 record. 2005: Outstanding freshman season as he went 14-4 in singles play and 4-4 mark in league play...went 9-1 at #6 flight...went 9-4 in doubles play with Rob Nunnery and finished 5-2 in league matches.
Before UNC Asheville: Graduated from Colegio Madre Carmen Salles...came to UNC Asheville with a top 40 national ranking in Brazil and is also a top doubles player in Brazil.
Coach Gregory Says: “Mauricio is a gifted tennis player who can do anything with the ball on the court. We need Mauricio to keep working hard and as he’ll do that his results will improve, as well. He needs to be a little more patient with his game.”
