Bulldogs Jump Back in First Place with Victory at Liberty

UNC Asheville (22-8, 11-2 Big South) regains sole possession of first place in the conference standings with its first victory at the Vines Center since 2005. The Bulldogs swept the season series from the Flames (15-11, 10-3 Big South) with both victories coming in showdowns for first place.
Benorden got the Bulldogs going in the first set as she had 10 kills in the opener. She finished with 25 kills on 54 swings while hitting .370. She accounted for 27 Bulldog points. She added 15 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. Cindi Miller had 10 kills while Lauren Ficker added eight kills and three blocks. Rachel Olivo had five blocks as the Bulldogs out-blocked the Flames 8-4.
Defensively, Raquel Miotto had a match-high 24 digs. Bridget Holliday had a season-high 19 digs while Brooke Holliday added 12 digs.
Liberty placed three attackers in double-figures. Nicki Scripko had 17 kills, ChelaineMcCarty had 16 kills and Karyl Bacon added 10 kills. The Flames committed 28 attack errors as they hit .159 on the match compared to the Bulldogs. 245.
UNC Asheville travels to High Point on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match while Liberty hosts Gardner-Webb on Saturday.
