Mattison Shines for Greensboro

Baseball Camp to be Held Dec. 19-20

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Baseball Staff will hold a Baseball Christmas Camp from December 19-20 at the Bulldog baseball field and indoor facilities.

The camp will be conducted by the UNC Asheville coaching staff, including first-year head coach Tom Smith The camp staff includes current Bulldog professional players such as Kevin Mattison (Marlins) and Alan DeRatt (Rockies). Also coming will be pro players that played for Coach Smith. They include Florida Marlins' outfielder Cameron Maybin, Milwaukee Brewers' pitcher Chris Narveson, Toronto Blue Jays infielder Justin Jackson and Pittsburgh Pirates minor league coach Josh Bonifay. Former major league pitcher Darren Holmes and area college coaches will also be in attendance.

Hitting, pitching, and position play will be covered each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the camp will utilize the indoor/outdoor facilities at UNC Asheville.  Lunch and a Camp T-shirt will be provided.  Interested campers should contact the Bulldog Baseball Office at 251-6903 or fill out the online application at uncabulldogs.com.
