Women's Soccer Loses at VMI, 2-0

LEXINGTON, VA. - VMI scored early and late as the Keydets recorded a 2-0 victory over UNC Asheville in Big South Conference women's soccer action Sunday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (3-5-1, 0-2-0 BSC) had 15 shots in the match and out-shot VMI 11-7 in the second half but could not get a goal.
The Keydets scored 59 seconds into the match when Sarah Strand scored off a pass from Simone Jiminez.
It stayed 1-0 most of the way before VMI sealed the victory with a goal from Christine Ndongo at 87:51.
Leilani Halkiotis had four shots for Asheville with two on goal. Lauren Turnburke, Megan Bradham and Mary Kate Tucker had two shots each for the Bulldogs.
VMI had two goalkeepers in the match in Angela Redmond and Heidi Beemer. Redmond stopped three Asheville shots in the first half, while Beemer blocked five shots in the second stanza.
The Bulldogs play again this Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host Presbyterian.
