Wofford Slips by Bulldogs, 3-2 on Two Late Goals

 RADFORD, VA. - Mary Wiley scored in the 54th minute as defending Big South Conference champion Radford held off UNC Asheville 1-0 in women's soccer action at Cupp Stadium Friday night.

The Bulldogs (3-4-1, 0-1-0 BSC) lost despite out-shooting the Highlanders (4-6-0, 1-0-0 BSC) 8-4 and controlling much of the match.

Chloe McCleary-Small had a pair of opportunities to tie the game for UNC Asheville in the second half.  Her first came in the 62nd minute on a thru ball from Halkiotis to the far side, where McCleary-Small got past her defender and sent a high shot just outside the goal post.  Five minutes later, she beat her defender on the near side and hit another attempt barely beyond the post.

Radford goalkeeper Lisa Lubke stopped five Asheville shots to record the shutout. Katy Beeler had two shots for Asheville in the first half that Lubke was forced to make a save. The Bulldogs out-shot the Highlanders 4-1 in the opening half.

The Bulldogs play at VMI Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
