ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? The UNC Asheville women's tennis
team will host Appalachian State in its home opener on Feb. 1 at the Asheville
Racquet Club at 5 p.m.
The Bulldogs (0-1) suffered a 7-0 defeat at Chattanooga in their season opener last
Saturday. In doubles, Nicole Schon and
Tess Darling fell 9-8 in a tiebreaker against Chattanooga's pairing of Annie Green and
Brianna Wishing. Junior Leslie Smith
played in the closest singles match of the day, falling 6-4, 7-5 to Chattanooga's Shaina
Singh.
Appalachian State (0-1) is coming off of a 7-0 defeat at Wake Forest
on Jan. 17. The Demon Deacons held the
Mountaineers to just three combined points in three doubles matches. In singles play, Carolina Mauch was the only
Mountaineer to win more than two games in a set as she was defeated 6-4, 6-2 by
Aileen Davis.
